Leonardo Fabbri was born in Bagno a Ripoli in the province of Florence on April 15, 1997. He studied at the hotel institute and lives in Bagno a Ripoli. His father Fabio was a sprinter and introduced him to athletics when 6 years old.
After trying a bit of everything, his great physical qualities directed him towards launches starting from the 2011 season under the guidance of Stefania Sassi.
In 2012 he won in shot put the cadet tricolors and the first important podium came already at his debut among the students, with the bronze in the Eyof of Utrecht , before reaching the final in the Games youth in Nanjing.
From the very beginning Leonardo had excellent credentials also in its score: a consolidated attitude after having passed under the guidance of the former Tuscan discus thrower Franco Grossi. From the end of 2016 he began to be followed periodically also by the technician Paolo dal Soglio who became his coach in October 2018.
He reached 20.69m in the 2019 indoor season, so outdoors after the silver at the European U23 he almost reached 21 meters with 20.99m, the longest throw of a blue since 1997 in fact, it must have been a sign of destiny.
2020 is the year of landing among the big names in Europe: Italian indoor record with 21.59m and personal best brought to 21.99m, the best Italian measure since Alessandro Andrei’s 1987 record.
He is a super passionate supporter of Fiorentina Calcio, the FC of his town and he likes to listen Italian music in his spare time.
