Simone Giliberto

Biography

Simone Giliberto is an Italian sprinter born on September 27, 2006, in Solarino, in the province of Syracuse. A sprinter for Siracusatletica club, he is coached by Professor Pasquale Aparo and specializes in sprint events, particularly the 400 meters.

The young Sicilian athlete showed early talent in track and field, quickly distinguishing himself in national and international competitions. In 2023, he won a silver medal in the 400m and a bronze medal in the 4×400 relay at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor, Slovenia. He also participated in the European under-20 championships in Jerusalem.

Giliberto has won several national titles, including the Italian junior champion title in the 400m at the Italian Indoor Championships in Ancona with a time of 48.29 seconds. He boasts personal bests of 47.29 in the 400m, 21.27 in the 200m, and 10.73 in the 100m.

His achievements include participation in the Under-20 World Championships and numerous call-ups to the Italian youth national teams. In 2025, he joined the prestigious Fiamme Gialle Sports Group, alongside fellow Syracuse sprinter Matteo Melluzzo.

Giliberto represents one of the brightest promises in Italian athletics, with a constantly rising career that has already brought him to compete at the highest international youth levels.
