Biography
Alexandrina Mihai (born Chetrosu, May 27, 2003) is an Italian racewalker of Moldovan origin, competing for the Fiamme Oro sports club.
Originally from Moldova, in March 2009—at five years old—she moved to Italy to reunite with her parents, who had settled in Soave, in the province of Verona. After practicing swimming for several years, in 2015 she took up track and field at the San Bonifacio facility, where coach Pierluigi Padoan soon introduced her to racewalking.
In 2019, she won her first Italian U18 title in the 5,000m track racewalk. The year 2022 marked her breakthrough: in September, she set a time of 1:35:59 in the 20km racewalk—faster than Antonella Palmisano’s national U20 best—achieved just days before officially acquiring Italian citizenship.
In May 2023, she made her senior Italian national team debut at the European Race Walking Team Championships in Poděbrady, placing 11th in the individual 20km event and taking 1st place in the team event alongside Antonella Palmisano and Valentina Trapletti. She then competed at the European U23 Championships in Espoo, claiming the silver medal in the 20km with a time of 1:32:32.
In 2025, she set the Italian U23 road bests in both the 20km (1:28:57) and 35km (2:46:41). That same year, she took gold at the European U23 Championships in Bergen in the 10,000m track racewalk, setting an Italian category record with a time of 43:39.55.
In 2026, she added to her achievements by winning the silver medal in the half-marathon racewalk at the European Championships in Birmingham, setting an Italian record in the process.
