Biography
Federico Falsetti, born in Florence on 23 December 2003, is a 400m runner for Assi Giglio Rosso Firenze, coached by Daniela Martini and his father Andrea Falsetti. Athletics runs in the family: his father competed for Italy at the European Junior Championships in the hurdles, and his mother, Lucia Samuelli, was a middle-distance runner. Until 2024 his main sport was football, where he played as a winger. He then switched to the track and made rapid progress in just over two years. In 2025 he won the Italian U23 400m title and made his international debut at the European U23 Championships in Bergen, where the 4x400m relay finished sixth in the final. In 2026 he became Italian university champion, reached the final at the Italian Championships in Florence and lowered his personal best to 45.64. He was selected for Italy’s senior 4x400m relay squad for the European Championships in Birmingham and the Mediterranean Games in Taranto. He studies sports science.
