Samuele Ceccarelli

Biography

Born in Massa on January 9, 2000, Samuele Ceccarelli is one of the leading sprinters in Italian athletics. European indoor champion in the 60 metres at Istanbul 2023, he made history in Italian sprinting by winning gold ahead of Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs with a time of 6.47 seconds in the semifinal — the second-fastest performance ever by an Italian over the distance.

Italian champion in both the 100 metres and the 60 metres indoor, Ceccarelli has also made his mark on the international stage at the European Games in Kraków, where he won gold individually and with the Italian team. His personal best in the 100 metres is 10.13 seconds.

Before choosing athletics at age 16, he practiced karate for seven years, earning a black belt. He competes for the Fiamme Oro and is coached by Maurizio Checcucci.
